Monthly Meeting Minutes

May 1, 2008

 

The meeting was called to order by Phyllis Klender, Secretary at 7:15 pm. There were four members present.  The minutes of the April 4th, 2008 meeting were approved as printed.

 

Gaynol Fales gave the treasurer’s report. We have $7,579.88 in all accounts. We had an income of $1,161.52 and expenses of $326.32 for a positive cash flow of $854.75 for the month of April. We made $1,161.52 on the used book sale at the VFW hall. Phyllis Klender turned in a bill from the Coffee Break for the National Library Week luncheon. Hilde Carruthers turned in $21.00 from donations. The treasurer’s report will stand as printed and presented.

 

OLD BUSINESS

·         Mark Winslow was not at the meeting so nothing new about the shed.

·         The VFW book sale was a success. It was suggested we have music playing for the next sale.

·         The July 22, 2008 adult program is all set. The flyers are printed and a contract has been sent   by the presenter.

·         Gaynol has contacted Glen’s Market about the birthday cake. Cost will be $55.00.

·         The gift card drawings for National Library Week were a success.

               

 

NEW BUSINESS

·         A get well card has been sent to Karen from the group.

·         A Thank you letter was received from Lynn Bigelow thanking us for the $100.00 donation for the 2008 Summer Reading Program.

·         Hilde thanked us for the step stools that were purchased.

·         Deb Snelgrove will be our liaison with the Arenac County Independent.

·         Clean up day for the library grounds will be Saturday, June 7th from 9 am to 1pm. Deb will contact the National Honor Society at SS Central High School to request student help for the day. Phyllis will check with the sheriff for some in-mates to help us that day. Dick Klender will buy the mulch  and garbage bags and Gaynol will ask Suzy Winslow to pick up the flowers for the flower bed and  the geraniums for around the building. Phyllis will take care of lunch for everyone.

·         Discussed the 50th birthday party. Deb has spoken to Roberta and Roberta has been in to see Hilde. Phyllis will drop off the notebook of materials about the history of the library to Roberta. Deb will buy a guest book for everyone to sign and we will award a prize to the 50th person to sign. Prizes will be gift cards form local businesses. Phyllis will send out invitations to local officials and librarians from the other district libraries.  Deb will email Karen about the bookmark idea. Phyllis will take care of the punch and the cups, forks, plates, and napkins. We will need cookies in case we run out of cake.

·         After discussion Deb moved we authorize Phyllis to spend up to $100.00 for something for the VFW for letting us use their hall for the book sale in April. Gaynol seconded it.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
